We have more and more coyotes roaming through our neighborhood; I am regularly coming face to face with them on my dog walks even in the middle of the day. It's pretty scary with my 8 pound chihuahua/min pin/rat terrier mix, and I know way too many folks who have lost a beloved pet to a coyote; even when you are right there you can't always protect your little dogs.
Anyhow I decided to get this spiked vest as an extra layer of protection for my dog in situations when he needs to be outside. Even when you are being really diligent (and I've started walking with a loud whistle to blow if we see a coyote which was recommend to me by a neighbor), you can't be too careful. I was worried about the vest fitting my dog, because while he's tiny, he's also weirdly tall. The vest fits quite well though, largely because it's well designed. It has two different types of closures, both buckles and velcro straps, both of which are adjustable, which makes it much easier to get the right fit. I also love that I can wrap it around my dog and fasten it rather than him having to put it over his head, which he doesn't care for at all, so that was a big plus for us.
I am impressed with the overall quality of this and think it's a very solid value. It feels both sturdy and durable, and the spikes are small but surprisingly sharp. It's a cool feature that the spike strips are separate and can be easily attached or removed as they are velcro and stick to the harness securely. The overall weight of this is a little heavier than your average harness which obviously isn't a surprise. The neck part bugs my dog a tiny bit but that is just part of the price of it being a safety feature I think.
We probably won't use this regularly but I am so happy to have it when I feel the need to give my dog extra protection. Hopefully no one reading this will ever have a coyote or hawk run in with a beloved pet but I figured why not make it even less likely by adding this vest to my dog's stash of supplies.

I just got it today…a little big but I wasn’t sure so I went big…just thrilled to have it to protect him from the hawk ! love It swooped by my ear the other day!
