How to measure your dog

Rear leg height: with your dog lying down, measure from the groin to the toe pad. Leave the leg in a natural bend; do not pull it straight.
Length: measure from the armpit to the rump.
Weight: weigh your dog and compare all three numbers with the size chart for small breeds, medium breeds or large breeds.

Can my dog lie down or go to the toilet in the wheelchair?

Most dogs can urinate and defecate while in a rear-leg wheelchair. Most dogs cannot lie down in a wheelchair, so take it off for rest and never leave your dog in it unsupervised.

How long can my dog use a wheelchair each day?

Start with short sessions of 10 to 15 minutes and build up slowly as your dog gets stronger. Watch for rubbing or tiredness, and follow your vet's advice on activity.
