Rescues & Sanctuaries

Tamecare was started in 2001 because there was a need to preserve the health and happiness of aging, injured, and disabled pets. Since then, we have partnered with over 300 different rescue organizations and sanctuaries to get these animals that are struggling with mobility back on their paws, providing them with independence in order to keep them happy and healthy.

At Tamecare, we strive to make life easier for animals and their caretakers. We know that it can be challenging to find forever homes for animals that may have special needs, and we are here to work hand in hand with rescue organizations to ensure that the animals in your care are getting the support and tools that they need to have the highest quality of life possible.

MINI HORSE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS - GETS WHEELCHAIR

3-month-old miniature horse, Turbo, was born with two luxating patellas, a congenital defect that gave Turbo little-to-no movement in his rear end. The only way Turbo can walk is in a hunched position, with his total weight being placed on his two front legs. Turbo's previous owners contacted Road to Refuge Animal Sanctuary (R2RAS) in North Haven, Connecticut, for guidance, and R2RAS stepped in and offered to give Turbo a fighting chance at their sanctuary!
